As we began our recording session, the Moon was rising on the Eastern horizon applying to a trine with Neptune in Pisces in the 9th house of higher leaming and expansive thought. Venus was in a prominent position in the sky; exalted in the sign of Pisces and on the degree of the Midheaven. Mercury was in the 7th house forming a co-operative sextile with Neptune. In the symbolic language of astrology "Peaceful Mind" is one possible interpretation of a flowing Mercury-Neptune aspect.

In the practice of Talismanic magic (of which I am a humble experimenter), a seal, figure, or image is engraved on a sympathetic material at an appropriately elected time to produce a charm that protects, heals and captures the qualities of the moment it was created.

In the case of this special edition record, sound has been inscribed on to vinyl by way of the lathe cutting process. I chose our recording date and time using principles of electional astrology, seeking to align the quality of time with the activity and the intentions of the undertaking. The astral bodies addressed at the time of recording are Venus (planet of love, harmony and beauty, and a signifier of singing), Mercury (the messenger planet of thought and communication, also associated with music) and Neptune (a more elusive planetary symbol associated with dreams, magic, and dissolution) as well as the Moon, crucial in all material undertakings.

Multiple measures were taken to contribute to good fortune on this recording and to attract the influences of the heavens for the desired effect of "Peaceful Mind". The result is a vinyl object adorned with astrological and magical character, appropriately consecrated with sympathetic practice to be conducive to harmonious relaxation and expansive thought. Vocal takes were cut directly to vinyl in real-time making each copy of this edition unique.
